This page provides links to trusted resources that support awareness, prevention, and response related to elder abuse, neglect, self-neglect, and financial exploitation. The resources below are intended for community members, professionals, and partners seeking additional information or guidance.

Helping Elders Access Resources (HEAR) Training Video
National Resources
National Center on Elder Abuse (NCEA)
Provides national leadership on elder abuse prevention, education, research, and policy.
National Center on Law and Elder Rights (NCLER)
Supports legal services and aging and disability networks through training, case consultation, and technical assistance focused on older adults with the greatest economic and social needs. NCLER is administered by Justice in Aging through the Administration for Community Living.
National Center on Abuse in Later Life (NCALL)
NCALL works to improve responses to abuse in later life by:
Promoting victim-defined advocacy and accessible services
Supporting coordinated community response teams through training and technical assistance
Providing information on legal remedies and accountability
Raising awareness through outreach and education
Engaging in policy development related to abuse in later life
Partnering with organizations addressing domestic violence, sexual assault, and elder abuse
Virginia Statewide Resources
Virginia Center on Aging (VCoA)
A statewide agency created by the Virginia General Assembly and housed at Virginia Commonwealth University. Since 1978, VCoA has worked to protect and improve the quality of life of older Virginians through education, research, and community partnerships.
Virginia Coalition for the Prevention of Elder Abuse (VCPEA)
A nonprofit coalition promoting awareness, training, and advocacy on behalf of abused, neglected, or exploited adults in Virginia. VCPEA works to improve public understanding, strengthen services, and support prevention efforts statewide.
Virginia Department of Aging and Rehabilitation Services (DARS)
Oversees aging services in Virginia and houses the Adult Protective Services division.

Provides personalized and innovative services for individuals affected by memory disorders or brain changes.
Peninsula Agency on Aging (PAA)
Offers nutrition services, care coordination, transportation, and caregiver support across the Virginia Peninsula.
